I write you a flower. H 60” W 27” D24”, Steel and stainless, 2020.

Installation at 132nd Street Block Association Garden, Harlem NY. September 2020

The sculpture I Write You a Flower is a love letter in the form of a 6-foot-tall metal flower. Engraved on its petals and stem are the words of an imagined Italian nursery rhyme:
'Ti scrivo un fiore perchè ti amo, su questo fiore scrivo che ti amo, scolpisco un fiore perchè questo fiore è il fiore dell’amore' ('I write you a flower because I love you, on this flower I write that I love you, I sculpt a flower because this is the flower of love').
The words 'ti amo' are prominently positioned at the flower's center.

The sculpture resembles a Marguerite, a wildflower common in Europe and my hometown of Rome, known for its spontaneous, unpredictable, and unstoppable growth—qualities that mirror the nature of love itself. This flower, a symbol of my dearest memories in Italy, blooms from late spring to early summer.

The metal flower, 'grown' by the artist in the garden, is a declaration of love. Yet, the sculpture is not directed at a specific person but extends its message to anyone who reads it."
